I want to get married. How do I get a license?
Marriage licenses can be used anywhere in the State of Oregon. The County Clerk is responsible for issuing them. There is a three-day waiting period, then the license is good for 60 days. There is a
$60 fee; cash or money order are accepted - no checks are taken. Identification is required, either driver's license or a witness will be accepted. No blood test or physical exam is required to obtain a license.
Are building permits issued at the courthouse?
No. They are issued by Inspections Inc., 2449 S.W. Fourth Ave. in Ontario; call (541) 889-7422. Zoning approval from the Planning Department is required before building permits can be issued.

I have questions about transporting material into Oregon. Who do I call for trip permits?
Call the State of Oregon's Farewell Bend Port of Entry (541) 869-2474; Fax (541) 869-2021. The port is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for permits, etc. Hours effective Nov. 1, 1998.
Do I have to have a burn permit?
If you live outside of city limits, in Malheur County, a burn permit is required for, but not limited to, agriculture and construction waste. Use of a burn barrel, covered by a mesh screen, requires a burn permit. There is no fee, but application must be made in person.
When is the landfill open?
Lytle Boulevard Landfill hours:
March 1 through Oct. 31: Tuesday and Thursday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Nov. 1 through Feb. 27: Tuesday and Thursday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Does the County Judge perform weddings and how much do they cost?
The County Judge does perform weddings. There is no fee charged if the wedding is performed at the Courthouse during regular Courthouse hours. Otherwise, the Judge can charge up to $100. The District Court Judges, Justice Court Judges and Municipal Court Judges also perform weddings.

Small claims may be filed at the justice court in Ontario, or in District Court,

What kind of weed is this?
If you have a weed you can't identify, you can call the County Weed Inspector for an onsite identification, or collect as much of the plant as possible, including the root, put it in a plastic bag and keep it as cool as possible. Bring it to the Weed Inspector's office at the County Road Department, 1001 Barkley Drive in Vale, or to the County Extension office at 710 S.W. Fifth Ave. in Ontario.
